Holstein Flowers recently celebrated its 50th anniversary in gerbera cultivation and breeding. Together with customers and relations, we reflected on half a century of innovation and growth.

During this festive occasion, managing director Hans van Holstein looked back on history: ‘Our family business started growing fruit and vegetables in 1946 and made the switch to growing and breeding gerberas in 1974. Today, Holstein Flowers is a leading player in the gerbera world, with an advanced breeding department, including laboratory, selection greenhouse and test room, and a wide range of exclusive gerberas. Innovation is one of our main focus points and will continue to be in the future,’ Van Holstein said.

One of the highlights of the evening was the inspiring presentation by former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos. He gave the audience a unique look behind the scenes of motorsport and emphasised that teamwork, fast switching and innovation are essential for success, both in motorsport and at Holstein Flowers.

Besides celebrating this milestone, there also was attention for  a special cause. Holstein Flowers handed over a cheque of €5,000 to Robert Doornbos, ambassador of the Prinses Máxima Centrum. This foundation is dedicated to pediatric cancer research. The amount was raised thanks to donations from customers and business associates, supplemented by a contribution from Holstein Flowers.

The evening ended with a festive walking dinner. Holstein Flowers looks confidently to the future and continues to invest in innovation, digitalisation and sustainability. At the same time, the company focuses on further strengthening cooperation with customers, auctions and partners.
